Selecting the right permanent anchor or the right anchor type
Are you wondering which is the right anchor to protect your façade? Then the first question you need to ask yourself is what is important to you in terms of anchoring?
Would you like to use an anchor system approved by the DIBt in Berlin that guarantees defined force absorption and enables you to implement DIN 4426 in accordance with standards as well as sustainable façade protection in conjunction with the rocketrail? Or would you prefer a more cost-effective alternative without approval that offers the general advantages of the isorocket® permanent anchor system, such as low installation thickness, reliable sealing options and the gooseneck, but has significantly lower force absorption and is therefore not suitable for subsequent addition with the rocketrail?

A cheap start or permanent façade protection with no ifs and buts?
Let’s start with the inexpensive entry-level solution, which we call isorocket® Temporay. Compared to the approved permanent anchors isorocket® Concrete and isorocket® Masonry, the Temporay has significantly lower force absorption and is only anchored in the substrate using the nylon anchor supplied. For areas that are not subject to heavy loads, however, it has the main advantages of the ISOrocket scaffolding anchor, which at least always carry more than standard scaffolding screws or permanent anchors that are only statically calculated. It can be used on substrates made of masonry, concrete, wood or similar.
The two other anchor types (isorocket® Concrete or Masonry) are approved by the building authorities for temporary use and differ in name from the substrate that serves as the wall-building material for your project. As the name suggests, the isorocket® Concrete is for concrete substrates and also has a metal impact anchor for significantly higher pull-out values. The isorocket® Masonry is also designed as an approved anchor for masonry substrates, which is why its rocketbase is slightly larger and screwed into the masonry at 4 points.
So the first decision should already be clear:
- What substrate are the permanent anchors attached to?
- Do I want an approved product or is a non-approved product sufficient?
With these two basic questions, you can make the essential decision regarding “Concrete, Masonry or Temporary”.
The second decision point is the wall structure from the wall former (load-bearing wall) to the outer edge of the façade (i.e. visible façade surface). The isorocket® scaffold anchor system is designed for thicknesses from 100 mm to 419 mm. This “range” is represented by 4 different anchor types, each covering an installation thickness of 79 mm. They are called Mini, Midi, Maxi and Mega with the following thicknesses:
- isorocket® Mini 100 – 179 mm
- isorocket® Midi 180 – 259 mm
- isorocket® Maxi 260 – 339 mm
- isorocket® Mega 340 – 419 mm
Once you have identified the right thickness for you, which experience has shown can consist of two different thicknesses for one project, you have basically found the right anchor for you.
As a little “treat” at the end, it should also be mentioned that the anchors approved by the building authorities are colored. This applies to both the concrete and the masonry:
- isorocket® Mini = GREEN
- isorocket® Midi = YELLOW
- isorocket® Maxi = RED
- isorocket® Mega = BLUE
The Temporary, on the other hand, is black in all four body variants and can therefore be clearly distinguished from the approved products. This also applies to the subsequent reassignment of the anchor point after possibly many years. If you then unscrew the “Rocketseal” plug from the screw channel and then screw the anchor screw (Rocketbold) back in, you can tell whether it is black, green, yellow, red or blue by taking a quick look into the screw channel. This means that you know the approximate strength of the wall structure and that this is the approved product or, in the case of black, the cheaper entry-level version.
We hope that we have made the choice a little clearer and easier for you in this way and would be delighted if you decide on the isorocket® as a façade protection anchor for your project.
